Terms of use
The agreements between you and Stiezer.
Last updated on 28 September 2026
What this is about
Stiezer helps you choose what to do after secondary school. These terms apply as soon as you sign in. What we do with your data is described separately, in the privacy policy.
Stiezer, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 98911651, contact@stiezer.nl.
Who may use Stiezer
Through your school. Your school has an agreement with us and gives you access. Besides these terms, your school's rules then apply too.
With your own account. If you are younger than sixteen, you need permission from a parent or guardian. We assume you have it when you create an account yourself.
Your account is yours alone. Do not share your password: everything that happens in your account ends up in your dossier.
What Stiezer is and is not
Stiezer thinks along with you. It is not study advice from a professional, not a psychological test, not an admission decision and not a replacement for your counsellor (decaan).
The avatar is a language model, and sometimes it says something that sounds convincing and is still wrong: a programme that does not exist, an admission requirement that has changed. Always check important things with the programme itself or with your counsellor.
Your dossier is a summary, not a judgement. You can always see it, you may change it, and you decide whether your counsellor can see it.
Stiezer is not a helpline. If something is really bothering you, talk to someone you trust, or call 113 Zelfmoordpreventie, the Dutch suicide prevention line (113 or 0800-0113), or De Kindertelefoon, the Dutch children's helpline (0800-0432).
What we ask of you
- Use Stiezer for what it is meant for: thinking about your own study choice.
- Do not put other people's data in it. Feel free to talk about the people around you, but do not give addresses, phone numbers or sensitive information about someone else.
- Do not share more about yourself than needed. You never have to say anything about your health, religion, background or sexuality.
- No abuse: do not try to reach other people's data, do not read it out automatically, do not get around limits, do not bring the service down.
- Nothing that is illegal, and do not harass anyone.
If you do not keep to this, we can limit or stop your access, and with a school account we tell your school. You will hear from us why.
Sharing your dossier
By default your dossier is yours alone. You switch on sharing with your counsellor yourself, in the app under 'settings', and you can switch it off again at any moment without explaining why. You never share your conversations: a counsellor only sees the dossier.
Your school can ask you to share as part of the choosing process. That is an agreement between you and your school; we only build the switch, and it stays yours.
Who owns what
What you write yourself stays yours. We use your conversations and your dossier to provide the service, and for nothing else. We do not sell them and we do not train language models on them.
The service itself stays ours. The software, the texts, the avatars, the design and the name Stiezer. You may use them as long as you have access, and not copy, resell or imitate them.
Availability and changes
We do our best to keep Stiezer working, but we do not promise a hundred percent: there is maintenance, something breaks now and then, and sometimes it is down to a party we depend on. The service also changes. If it is something you will really notice, we tell you in advance. For schools, agreements about availability are in the contract with the school.
Stopping
You can always stop: ask for your account to be deleted at contact@stiezer.nl, or for a school account through your school. Your conversations and your dossier are then erased.
If your school stops using Stiezer, you lose your access, but you do still get the chance to collect your dossier. We close an account in case of serious abuse, and we say so well in advance if we stop Stiezer altogether.
If you paid yourself, as a consumer you have fourteen days to change your mind. If you have already started, we refund what you have not used yet.
Liability
Stiezer gives suggestions, not guarantees. We are not liable for a study choice that turns out not to fit, or for damage because you relied on an answer from the avatar without checking it.
If something goes wrong that is our fault, our liability is limited to what was paid for your use in the twelve months before. That limit does not apply in case of intent or deliberate recklessness, nor where the law does not allow it: as a consumer you keep the rights the law gives you.
Complaints and law
If you run into something, email contact@stiezer.nl. We respond within 5 working days. Dutch law applies to these terms; if we cannot work it out together, the competent court in the Netherlands decides. As a consumer you may always go to the court where you live.
When we change these terms, the newest version appears on this page with a new date above it. For something important we let you know in the app before it takes effect.
